Greg Hunter is a highly accomplished racer and one of the nicest people at the race track. Greg is originally from Medicine Hat, Alberta and now resides in Denver Colorado. Greg acquired his Top Alcohol Funny Car license in 2003, and quickly crossed over to Top Alcohol Dragster in 2012 driving for Kenny Gilmour. Greg now drives the Synoil Top Alcohol Funny car.
It was in 1994 when Greg attended his first NHRA drag race, even though his love for blown alcohol
engines and drag racing started long before that. As a child, you could always find Greg helping his father run their family mini rod blown alcohol tractor, pulling the long sled 300 ft. at the local tractor pulls. It was behind the she shop where they worked on the family mini rod tractor that Greg heard cars screaming down the street.
Shortly after, Greg took his 1984 Ford Mustang to the local track and started making passes down the strip and eventually promoted his street Mustang to a full blown racecar. Greg competed in his Mustang for a year before purchasing a Super Comp Dragster, and eventually graduating up to a Nostalgia Alcohol Funny Car which he ran for Ian Gellately. Greg purchased his his own Top Alcohol Funny Car which he loved, until an ill fated NHRA rule banned the Ford engine he was running. Fate stepped in once again and Greg was brought in to drive the Kenny Gilmore’s Top Alcohol Dragster. Greg raced with Gilmore for two years before Jumping back into a Top Alcohol Funny Car for Geo Goodwin and Synoil.
Along with Synoil Greg has a long list of marketing partners that tie all the team success together including Twister Piling – TPI, Proform Concrete services, Prowler Contracting, Ron Hodgson Chevrolet, Hamptons Oilfield Service, MD Truck Repair, Mobil1, Landale Signs, Pumps and Pressure, CleanBoost Oil, and Exactair Compliance Systems.
